Little Oak Design Co.

I'm a bit of a moody soul with a deep love for good stories and good food. (This connects, I promise).

English was my favorite class in school; so much so that I studied it as my undergraduate degree. My senior year, I took a few graphic design electives on a whim...and fell in love.

Hannah is shown on a dock at twilight in James Island State Park in Charleston, SC. She is wearing navy floral dress and a denim jacket and looking off frame to the right. The sunset and moody lighting show on the water behind her.

I decided to go back to art school to round out my education and received an MA in Visual Communication Design (a fancy way of saying graphic design) in 2021.

All along, my heart was stirring to start my own business. The driving force was my love of homemaking and hospitality; I always want my loved ones to feel welcome and at peace in my home.

I realized maybe God was calling me to help other women do the same.

So here I am: designing embroidery patterns and surface designs to make your dream home - and mine - become a reality!

These are more than just patterns to me. They're meant to facilitate a home filled with good stories, good food, and good company. Chances are, if you've found me, you yearn for the same type of home.

Why don't you join me?

why little oak?

A black and white image of a young Hannah grinning at the camera while peeking out from behind the trunk of an oak tree.
Young adult Hannah peeks out from behind an oak tree.

I grew up a total tomboy. As a girl, I spent almost every Saturday outside with my dad while he worked on house projects. I hammered scrap wood together with spare nails, gathered up tree trimmings into bundles with twine, and had my own little knee pad for pulling weeds.  Our favorite project was planting trees. Wanna take a guess at the crowning glory? That's right: a live oak sapling we planted in the backyard.

My dad never complained about his little girl following him around on his day off. In fact, as entrepreneurs themselves, my parents both embraced my curiosity. They have always encouraged my desire to make, build, and nurture things with my hands.  That live oak grew up with me until it was big enough for me to sit and read in its branches.  Now, 20 years later, I'm planting a business "sapling" of my own. My prayer is that, given the same curiosity and hard work as the tree I planted as a girl, this little oak will flourish and leave a legacy for the next generation.
